This is Jess and Jay and the story of their Red Tail Canyon Farm Wedding, a colorful, fiesta inspired wedding in the woods of Washington. (see their day in 35mm film HERE.)They met at a taco Tuesday and their first date was a hike together, so they built their day around being outdoors, surrounded by trees, and eating tacos. Their wedding took place in the woods of Leavenworth, a sacred home away from home and a place to get lost in nature together. They incorporated and honored her Mexican culture all throughout the day.
They first saw each other under towering trees, and they snuck away to the rivers edge to have some quiet moments together before the bustle of the day unfolded. They wed with the mountains as their backdrop. Surrounded by bright, colorful flowers as they spoke their vows. Streamers dancing in the wind behind them. They stood on a happy, patterned rug set in the aisle and spread out upon the fresh green, summer grass. Colorful confetti as they exit the ceremony, followed by a celebratory boogie in the grass together.
Colorful, fun, happy, eclectic, DIY. Everyone gathered under a rainbow in the woods to enjoy tacos, guacamole, and Mexican sodas. Hand made, rainbow tassels were strung up in the trees and dancing above everyone’s heads to the sound of laughter, stories, and cheers. The tables were covered with hand painted place settings, hand dipped dyed napkins, and collected mix-matched chalices. Their goal in planning their day was to throw a big celebration of their love for each other and their love for each of their guests. At sunset, they skipped through the grassy field together and then broke out into spontaneous twirling and dancing in the grass. The stars came out and they wowed their guests with a choreographed dance. To end the night everyone danced under colorful papel picado banners and ate funfetti cake.
