Coastal Bay Area Wedding – A Sustainable Celebration on the Pacific Coast

This is the story of Nick and Torrey and their Coastal Bay Area wedding. In planning their day, it was important to them to have a wedding celebration that was organic, sustainable, and connected to nature. From Torrey’s all sustainable hand-sewn dress made in Brooklyn by Loulette Bride, her handmade headpiece created by her mom incorporating lace from her own wedding gown, to their paperless invitations and farm-to-table meal sourced directly through Harley Farms, their day was just that.

Tucked away in the redwoods, they both got ready in a charming home that was bursting with historic character and decor. They had their first look on a pathway winding through the towering trees. Big embraces and laughter under the shade of the redwoods.

The sun was beaming as they made their way to Harley Farms where they would exchange their vows in front of their loved ones. Everyone gathered together on wooden benches spread out across the open grass. The ceremony site is called a secret garden which just added to the magic of the day. A canopy draped in greens surrounded them as they became husband and wife.

Everyone celebrated over good food and wine. Guests chatted and clinked their glasses across a long family-style farm table. At sunset, Nick and Torrey walked along the winding country road. They danced together in the middle of road, hand in hand, newlyweds. As the evening started to unfold, you could hear the crackling of the bonfire. Guests roasted marshmallows, shared stories, and celebrated the night away.

A few words from Torrey about planning their Coastal Bay Area Wedding:

What were some of the inspirations for your wedding?

We knew off the bat we wanted to have a wedding outdoors somewhere in the Bay Area of California. Even though we live in Brooklyn, we both have strong family ties to that part of CA. Ultimately, we knew we wanted it to feel effortless and organic with lots of elements of nature, but at the same time casual and inviting.  When we stumbled onto Harley Farms, it hit all those elements. It was gorgeous without trying too hard. It had stunning nature within it and surrounding it. It’s family-owned with an intimate connection to the plants and animals it grows and looks after. The vibe was just right for us!  We were also excited to make it a “destination” wedding for most of our friends, as Pescadero is such a unique and charming part of the coast, we knew our East Coasters would make a long weekend out of it to maximize their time in the area to really soak up its awesomeness.

What are some adjectives that describe your wedding decorations and style? Natural, organic, fresh, sustainable, green, casual chic, inviting, minimalist, cozy, effortless elegance, relaxed, fun, intentional, and personal. We wanted the vibe to feel very much “like us,” personified into a wedding.
