This is the story of Jamie & Blake’s Mountain Mermaid wedding in Topanga Canyon. This wedding was as quirky and colorful as they come! But what do you expect from two Venice Beach natives throwing a wedding on 4/20 at The Mountain Mermaid in the hills of Topanga?! It was a rock inspired rainbow celebration that screamed anti-cliché. This day was nothing short of a party from beginning to end and the day perfectly reflected the couple’s eclectic rocker style and fun personalities.
The Style: Cool, eclectic, and rainbow rocker.
Jamie’s getting ready robe said “Cool Bride Shit” on the back and her ladies’ said “Cool Bitch Shit”. The bride and her bridespeople incorporated a lot of color in their style, from their electric died hair to the bridesmaids bright monochrome outfits that matched their said electric hair. Each person dressed in a different bright color of the rainbow, down to the matching monochrome shoes. Jamie wore a stunning lace 1930’s original vintage lace and silk gown, custom blue studded heels, and had big faux daisies all along her DIY veil. The Groomspeople all dressed in head to toe monochrome grey. Jamie changed into a silk jumpsuit for the reception so she could easily and wildly dance the night away.
The Celebration: Every detail was personal and anti-cliché
Jamie and Blake’s beloved Boston Terriers were a big part of the day and were dressed in sweet, little kitschy bride and groom outfits. Jamie threw up a ‘rock on’ hand sign as they exit the over-grown-jungle-vibe ceremony site. The bright colors continued with their neon orange cake, bright yellow flowers, and post-ceremony celebratory smoke bombs filling the air with every color of the rainbow. Jamie’s mom sang as they shared their first dance. They had a variety of customized temporary tattoos for guests to cover their bodies with, mini gourmet burger sliders, collected vintage postcards instead of a guestbook, a big ol’ pile of doughnuts for late night snacking, and even a caricature artist to sketch their guests during the reception.
