This is the story of Alyson and Andrew’s Ventura Tavern Wedding. They had a colorful, retro inspired day. Planning a wedding celebration in the midst of lock-downs was not for the faint of heart, but Alyson and Andrew always kept it positive and fun even after having two reschedules. To commemorate and make light of all the rescheduling misfortune, Alyson had a jean jacket with all the dates embroidered onto the back with the first two dates crossed off. With a table overflowing with cookies baked by families and a grand exit bursting with joy and rainbow confetti: their day was fun, quirky, upbeat, and perfectly reflected them.

The Bridesmaids all donned dresses of different colors creating an electric rainbow together. Alyson wore neon pink shoes and her bouquet was filled with bright pinks and oranges to fit right into the rainbow. The Ventura Tavern was the perfect space for their celebration, with quirky wallpaper, bold, moody wall colors, and funky decoration throughout the space (a retro juke box, gold antler chandelier, and marquee lights lining the windows, to name a few). The outdoor space also complimented their colorful, bright day with towering palm trees, green foliage surrounding the ceremony site, and a fun black and white mural as the backdrop for their reception space. Alyson added cactus to the space from her personal collection. They filled the tables with mid century modern retro decorations and bright floral arrangements where everyone enjoyed tacos and beer (“Tacos up, pinkies out!”)

Some words from the couple on the inspiration that went into planning their day:

What were some inspirations for your wedding? “We were definitely inspired by 1960’s Palm Springs aesthetic. I am huge fan of the music, colors, and style of the place and time. We have always loved this style and really wanted to bring it to our guests on our big day.”

What are some adjectives that describe your wedding decorations and style? “That’s a hard one! I would say mid century modern style. As far as decorations, I would say quirky and retro.”
